There's an old saying. If you don't want someone to join a crowd, you ask them, "If everyone were jumping off of a cliff, would you?" Well, I have. So my answer would be "Yes". True story.

My Band is Totally Ready to Open for Rage Against the Machine

this entry brought to you by red hot chili peppers, "give it away"

before you read this entry, if you don't know who six pack of double ds are yet, go read about their attempt to get a slot at coachella here. that way you can, you know, understand today's entry.

Dear Rage Against the Machine,

It was announced recently that your reunion, which had originally been planned as possibly a one-night engagement at Coachella, would be supplemented with several more dates. My band and I, 6 Pack of Double Ds, couldn't possibly be more excited about your tour, and hope to see you. Moreover, we hope that you continue to add more dates, and have an extensive tour. We realize that you will be touring with The Wu Tang Clan for those first announced dates, but if you do decide to add more, and Wu Tang are not able to open for you for the remainder of it, we would like for you to keep us in mind as a possibility for opening for you. We totally feel like we're ready to open for Rage Against the Machine.

For starters, we're totally qualified for the job. Although we were ultimately turned down, we were in serious consideration for having a slot at Coachella-- the very same Coachella your reunion started! We're even further experienced now than when we were in talks with Coachella. Our debut record, Operation: Get Wasted is out, and is a huge hit with all our friends. We even gave it out at this keg party we played at, and everyone was completely enthusiastic about it. We feel we can take this positive energy already building around us-- you can call it a "buzz"-- and use it to get your audiences pumped by the time you take the stage.

We feel that our hardcore punk/reggae/metal/psychedelic/Radiohead sound will be totally perfect to compliment your sound, without being too much like you. But if you think that perhaps we might be not enough like you, please keep in mind that 6 Pack of Double Ds is totally socially conscious and prepared to be political, which we think our songs such as "Capitalism Sucks" and "George Bush (Can Suck My Dick)" ably demonstrate. We have a lot of variety, though, and one favorite at all our gigs is "Killing in the Name of Love", which always brings the fuckin' house down.

We at Six Pack of Double Ds realize that there are probably way more popular and well-known bands that want to open for you, but if you think about it, all of these bands fucking suck. We feel that we do not suck, and are constantly improving. In fact, every member of our band has totally beat Guitar Hero II on the hardest setting, which is an immense feat we're sure you can appreciate, yourselves being guitar heroes. Well, our drummer couldn't beat it, but he kinda sucks anyway, but our awesome bass player, Thrillicious BassFace, totally makes up for that, and beats "Freebird", which is the hardest song in Guitar Hero II, as I'm sure you know-- and he does it every morning as soon as he wakes up. That is totally fucking hardcore, and we can't think of a single band who has a single member who also does that, even though they may be "more popular" or whatever.

Signed,
Jeff Soleminski, leader singer, Six Pack of Double Ds.
