There's an old saying. If you don't want someone to join a crowd, you ask them, "If everyone were jumping off of a cliff, would you?" Well, I have. So my answer would be "Yes". True story.

"I'm Going To Need You Guys To Give 110%"

Wednesday, March 05, 2014

this entry brought to you by portishead, "western eyes"

Why is it that every single boss asks you to give 110% percent? Why is 110 the go-to bullshit hyperbolic impossible standard? Why doesn't any of them think "I'm going to be the guy who says 'I want you to give two hundred percent!". Or hell, a billion percent! Why have they all settled on "110%"? Do they think they 110% percent is actually mathematically possible to give, but anything over is not, so asking for exactly 110% is a reasonable thing to ask?

Why is it 110%??? Who told them this is the percent of effort their team should give???
