Copyrighting Your Creation By Mailing it to Yourself

Sunday, October 14, 2012

this entry brought to you by postal service, "such great heights"

I don't know if you knew this, but there's sort of an old wive's tale, or something that your mother tells you-- if you have an idea but can't afford to a copyright or a patent, write it down on a sheet of paper, and male it to yourself. That way, if someone ever steals your idea, you have proof of when it was created-- the envelope will be postmarked.

Sounds genius, but has this ever come up in a court of law?
