If clowns were supposed to represent a specific group of people, they would be the most horrifying racist caricatures imaginable. You'd be at a children's party and you would hear someone shouting at the entertainment, "My shoes are big because I have big feet, asshole! And the red nose? Not fucking cool, man. Not fucking cool at all."

If you knew someone who was a clown part-time, like, on weekends, you would cease being friends with them.

Rodeos would be pretty much the same, except when something bad happened to the clown, people would cheer even more.
