There's an old saying. If you don't want someone to join a crowd, you ask them, "If everyone were jumping off of a cliff, would you?" Well, I have. So my answer would be "Yes". True story.

this entry brought to you by a perfect circle, "3 libras"

WASHINGTON-- With just a minute left to go, President Obama's head Secret Service Agent Kurt Warner broke his ankle, rendering him completely immobile. The crowd of people that had gathered to watch President Obama was stunned to silence, afraid that this might in fact be a game-changer.

With a time out called, President Obama gathered his thoughts and spoke to the murmuring crowd. "At this time of great need, I am confident that we as a people can pull through. We Americans have come across great obstacles in our country's rich history, but also in our own lifetimes, and I cannot promise that this will be the last. But make no mistake-- at this time, it is detrimental to our society that we stand up and say to those who would stop us, 'Not this time.' We will look adversity in the eyes and stare with such conviction that they will know America will not lay down at a time when it might be more convenient to just lay down. We will not ignore what matters most to us just because trouble has temporarily risen its ugly head."

Obama then looked into the crowd with searching, earnest eyes. "Who amongst you will help your people overcome? Who will help me, and therefore your very country, to victory?"

After a moment of hushed silence, as the crowd looked around expectantly, you stood forward and, with every ounce of courage and conviction, announced "I will, Mr. President."

Obama pointed at you, and with that, the crowd parted, allowing you forward. The President then looked you in the eye, shook your hand, and said "Let's do this thing."

One minute began counting down on the clock, and, with surprising expertise and agility, you, a person with no formal Secret Service training aside from being the bodyguard for the Class President back in High School, as well as watching Monday Night C-Span during every Presidential season, led President Barack Obama to a slight but decisive victory against his opponents.

The following days being an incoherent blur, you found yourself, as if having skipped through time, on the White House lawn, millions of people cheering you, accepting the Key to the Nation from the President. Holding the key triumphantly to the crowd, you then realized that somehow you had forgotten to wear pants for this important, once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

In other news, Bruce Springsteen just asked for you to come up on stage and jam with him during a sold-out Madison Square Garden performance.
