The Racist Propaganda I Found on My Lawn

A few weeks ago, I found this out on my lawn:




Initially I was horrified with offense-- I'm half black, and my wife half Hispanic, so my daughter is the very definition of "mixed", and I couldn't help but feel personally offended. I glanced around the neighborhood and saw that it was on everyone's yard, and when I realized it wasn't a personal attack on me-- a veiled "Get out of our neighborhood, nigger!"-- I was filled with amusement and pity.

The most telling aspect of the flier was that it was in a clear plastic bag with a few rocks at the bottom-- easier for throwing. In other words, whoever delivered it did so out of the window of a moving vehicle, as opposed to walking going door to door. Maybe they thought it would be easier this way, but more likely they didn't want anyone to see them and know they're racist. At first I was curious how anyone would have the balls to do it in our neighborhood, of all places, because while it is a very nice, upper-class neighborhood, for every three white families, there's a minority; a few Hispanic families, several Asian, and around the corner a two black. I realized, more than likely, this person printed up hundreds of them and was traveling miles away from their home to deliver the word. But how, exactly, does this person get off with their asshole opinion? I live in Arizona, a state where virtually no white person can claim heritage for anything longer than two generations-- the only people here forty years ago were natives and a few stray ranchers, and this is the virtually the only state in the union that hasn't been occupied by white people for at least a hundred years. In fact, it only became a major metropolitan area in the last 30. How can any white person in the state of Arizona, of all places, be that much of a jackass as to complain about "Third World America"? If they felt that strongly, why didn't they move to Montana or one of the Carolinas, as opposed to a state that borders Mexico?

When you go to the website (I actually went to the Arizona chapter's website for this flier, and I mention this because the wording is different than if you'd go to the link provided above), it proudly boasts that it finds the notion of diversity "absurd", and that their mission is to keep the white bloodline pure. You know, there's nothing wrong with a white person wanting to have white children, just as there's nothing wrong with a black person wanting black children. This is what makes having it as a mission statement all the more intolerable. They're taking the idea of having children that look like you-- something most parents want, and that's okay-- and using it as a front for racism. This isn't about the children at all; this is about their useless, racist opinions being shoved on people who don't want them, in a society that has no place for them. This is about a dying breed of asshole clinging tenaciously to the increasingly slim chance that someone-- anyone-- will listen to them complain.

What is ultimately amusing and pathetic about racists is that they are irrelevant and do not matter. Their children can only grow up one of two ways. They can grow up just like their parents, racist, close-minded, and pointlessly hateful. And people don't like these traits in other people, so the only ones a racist's child will associate with are dwindling numbers of people that are also racist, close-minded, and pointlessly hateful. The rest of civilized society couldn't give a shit if two idiots wish to spend their idiot time with one another-- keeps them out of our gene pool. The only danger they are to society is what they'll manage to do with their hatred until they are eventually incarcerated, for one reason or another, and even if they never do anything to get themselves arrested, they will, no matter what, be forgotten about, because they are useless.

The other, much more likely possibility for the child of a racist is that they will grow up resenting their racist asshole parents, and do whatever they can to piss them off. Lots of people have parents that are bigots, and lots of people hate their bigot parents, doing whatever they can to avoid being with them in public or to introduce them to their friends. Lots of people have that racist asshole grandparent that loudly complains about the "coloreds" not being trustworthy while they're being taken out shopping. Lots of people have that racist uncle that everyone largely ignores at Thanksgiving, going out of their way to not spend any time with, and when forced to, they keep the conversation polite but awkward and minimalist. And if a parent wants to set their child up to be ostracized by society or for them to hate them for their childish single-mindedness, hey, no skin off my back.
