Why do they have to perpetuate the stereotype??

A few weeks ago, my roommate and I went down to the KFC/A&W combo restaurant they have. Do you have these places where you live? Combination fast food restaurants? They're usually like KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut/A&W. You know what I'm talking about.
So we go down to the KFC, and guess what we saw. Black people! Three of them! Now, here's the thing. Fried chicken is delicious, and everybody has the right to eat it. But way to perpetuate stereotypes, guys!
My roommate said that perhaps they were just buying a hotdog from the A&W menu. But you know they weren't! They were in there buying chicken. I can hear them now. "Hey, we heard you guys carry chicken of the fried variety. Can you please hook us the fuck up?"
Of course, I was there, further perpetuating the stereotype, but my excuse is that I'm only half black, and therefore not really perpetuating the stereotype nearly as much as those guys.
