Good Conversation Makes the World Go 'Round.

I think what I've learned about myself is that I care more about conversation than anything. I love that moment early in a relatioship where you're talking to a person and you realize, holy poop, this might just be that rare person that I could always have conversations with. Don't you hate it when a relationship starts off hot and interesting, in terms of conversation, and the two of you can talk about things, real tangible things, intelligent things, wonderful things-- and a couple months later you just don't care anymore? I love it when you can tell, no, this isn't going to just burn out, it's going to go on forever. I could talk to this person for hours every single day for years and it's never going to get old. I've found that I value this more than anything in a relationship. I love looking forward to talking to someone. I love that semi-high you get of anticipating a good conversation. When something pops in your head and you say, oh, good gravy, I've got to put this aside, I've got to remember this so I can bring it up with so-and-so. It's kind of like sex, except it's better than sex because you can do it with that person for much longer, and at any time, provided both parties are available. There are sexual relationships, and there are conversational relationships. And it is excellent when they can combine together-- you've got yourself a partner for life if they overlap.
