America Doesn't Need Any More Fonzies
this entry brought to you by rilo kiley, "it's a hit"
I was reading a profile on some website (okay, I'll admit it-- it was Okcupid.com. But my wife Michelle made me do it!!). The girl was actually an obnoxious brat that I had no interest in ever talking to. But she said something that I had never thought before, that I totally agree with. She said, and I'm paraphrasing, what's with everyone saying they're cool and laid back? Who wants cool and laid back? She said she wanted someone fun, out to grab life by the balls, someone who never takes anything for granted.
Now, she was someone who mentioned the word "booze" nine or ten times in her profile, so when she says this she probably means "extreme", someone who will take a hit off a bong and then dive out of an airplane. But she's right. This whole "laid back" thing has gone too far. We, as a society, don't need any more people who are easy-going anymore. We need people that are passionate about things, people that are opinionated, people who want change. Fonzie was cool, afterall, but he sure as hell wasn't interesting.
