If I could, I'd put solar panels on my roof and live off of energy I made. I'd still stay connected to the grid in case there are lean months or in case this whole solar-powered thing isn't powerful enough, so I won't have, you know, fans that would run at half power and water that takes twice as long to boil. But I'd like to have a self-sufficient house. I am not sure why people that long to have self sufficiency are looked at with derision and automatically called hippies. I'm not a hippy. I just don't enjoy bills.
