There's an old saying. If you don't want someone to join a crowd, you ask them, "If everyone were jumping off of a cliff, would you?" Well, I have. So my answer would be "Yes". True story.

A Quick Thought on Nudity in Films

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

this entry brought to you by radiohead, "where i and you begin"

I understand nudity in films. When the time is right, I feel like nudity honestly does increase certain emotions. I mean, other than just "horny". For example, a nude, murdered corpse increases the horror of whatever happened to them. Nakedness in the right place can make a character more crazy. I honestly think that there should be more male nudity. We are naked people, underneath, and there's going to be times when we can't help but be naked. I hate it when movies go out of their way to hide nakedness. I hate it how when men get out of showers in movies and step out to grab the towel in just such a fashion just to hide nudity. It's just a ding-dong for Chris' sakes.

So I can understand an artist's willingness to be nude in front of the camera, if the scene and the character calls for it. But I was thinking about a movie like Leaving Las Vegas where Nicholas Cage sucks voraciously on Elizabeth's Shue's nipple and I thought, how exactly do you convince on actress to let someone else lick their nipples?
